Policy 3010A - Enrollment Policy

Enrollment Policy                                                                                                                             3010A

RISE Charter School is a public charter school open to any student regardless of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religious affiliation, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, social or economic status, and/or special needs. All enrolled students regardless of background are afforded the same rights, privileges, programs, and activities available to all students.

Initial Enrollment

RISE accepts students up to the defined class enrollment limit in the grades currently served. There are no academic enrollment requirements.  RISE reserves the right to decline enrollment to students if false or misleading information is included on the enrollment application form.

Enrollment Preference

Enrollment preference is given to: (1) Current students; (2) children of school board members and children of staff, (3) siblings of current students; and (4) students living within the Kimberly School District boundaries. Students from outside the Kimberly District may only be admitted after all Kimberly School District students on the applicable waiting list have been given an opportunity to enroll.

The RISE School Board is committed to growing and maintaining a diverse student body that mirrors its surrounding district. In order to meet that goal, the district may deny out-of-district students enrollment for circumstances that constitute a hardship, including, overcapacity of any program such as special education classes, case load, or to protect the health, safety, and welfare of its existing students and its educational processes.

Ineligible Students

If a student applies and is accepted to RISE from out of the Kimberly School District boundaries, but fails to attend, that student may be ineligible to apply again for enrollment in this district. A student who has been suspended, expelled, or may otherwise be lawfully denied enrollment, may be deemed ineligible for enrollment in this district pursuant to the provisions of this policy.
