Policy 5413 - Witness for court Appearance Leave

Witness for Court Appearance Leave
RISE Charter School employees who are subpoenaed into court as a witness will be allowed leave for required court appearances. Employees are expected to use only the portion of the work day of days required for their appearance as a witness. Employees are required to receive prior approval of the Executive Director and their immediate supervisor, such as the maintenance, school lunch, or bus supervisor or principal. The employee will be granted leave to be a witness for court appearance with pay providing the person submits a copy of the subpoena to the RISE Charter School office as soon as possible and such testimony is in behalf of their position as an employee of the School.

If the employee’s court leave is entirely unrelated to one’s position with the RISE Charter School, the RISE Charter School will still honor the subpoena and allow for leave. However, the employee may be requested to use personal leave or take a day of unpaid leave in order to honor the subpoena.
