Executive Director
Job Summary:
The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of the charter school, responsible for the overall strategic, academic, operational, and financial success of the school. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director ensures the school’s mission is fulfilled in alignment with Idaho state laws, charter school guidelines, and the unique needs of the community served.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Implement the vision, mission, and goals set by the Board of Directors.
- Lead strategic planning and continuous improvement processes.
- Collaborate in the development and execution of the school's master schedule to support instructional goals and operational efficiency.
- Oversee the implementation of a structured meeting cadence to ensure consistent, high-impact professional development and team alignment.
- Support the Principal’s training of staff on school-wide expectations and provide support to ensure consistent understanding and alignment on behavioral standards across all classrooms.
- Represent the school to stakeholders, including parents, our authorizer-the Kimberly School District, and the broader community.
- Develop marketing initiatives to enhance the school’s public image and maintain a strong, positive presence in the community. Academic Oversight
- Coordinate with the Principal to develop and implement a comprehensive, year-long professional development plan aligned with school goals and staff needs.
- Ensure academic excellence through effective leadership of instructional programs.
- Monitor student performance using data-driven decision-making aligned with Idaho State Standards and assessments.
- Coordinate efforts to research and recommend high-impact curriculum aligned to student learning goals, ensuring effectiveness while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
Foster a culture of high expectations, innovation, and continuous learning through
Financial & Operational Management
- Develop and manage the annual budget in compliance with state and federal funding regulations.
- Supervise and provide final approval for support staff responsibilities related to payroll, accounts payable and receivable, and other financial operations.
- Oversee school operations, facilities, transportation, technology, and food services.
- Ensure the school meets all compliance requirements with the Idaho State Department of Education and other regulatory agencies.
Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timely submission of all required state reports in compliance with regulatory deadlines.
Human Resources & Talent Management
- Recruit, supervise, and evaluate school classified staff, instructional staff, leadership and administrative staff.
- Strategically hire staff to maximize student achievement and maintain a solvent budget.
- Promote a professional and positive environment that attracts and retains high-quality educators.
- Ensure adherence to employment laws, policies, and best practices.
Oversee and support coaching, professional development, and instructional leadership to enhance educator effectiveness and student achievement.
Governance & Compliance
- Serve as the primary liaison between the school and its Board of Directors.
- Prepare and present reports to the Board on academic, operational, and financial performance.
Ensure compliance with the school's charter, Idaho charter school laws, and federal education regulations.
Community Engagement
- Build strong relationships with families, local businesses, donors, and community organizations.
- Serve as the public face of the school to promote enrollment and community support.
Respond proactively to parent concerns and media inquiries.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Education, Public Administration, or related field (Doctorate preferred).
- Valid Idaho Administrator Certification preferred or ability to obtain.
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in education, preferably in a charter or alternative school setting.
- Strong background in school finance, curriculum development, and organizational leadership.
- Familiarity with Idaho education laws, charter school statutes, and accountability systems.
Demonstrated success in managing teams and leading change in diverse school communities.
Work Environment:
- Full-time, on-site position.
- Some evenings and weekends required for board meetings, events, and community engagement.
- Travel within Idaho may be required.
