K-12 Assistant Executive Director

The Assistant Executive Director serves as the second-in-command, working in close partnership with the Executive Director to provide instructional and cultural leadership at RISE Charter School. This role supports academic excellence, student success, and a positive school community, while collaborating with staff, students, and families to advance the school’s vision and strategic priorities and foster a culture of growth, accountability, and collaboration.
This role requires exceptional organizational skills, the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, and sound judgment in a dynamic school environment. The Assistant Executive Director must model a growth mindset, demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning, reflection, and improvement. Central to this position is a belief that all students can achieve at high levels when supported by the right environment, with leadership serving as the foundation for cultivating a healthy, high-performing learning culture.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership
- Support high-quality teaching and learning through classroom observations, feedback, and instructional coaching.
- Use academic and culture data to guide decision-making and school improvement.
- Lead professional development and support staff professional growth.
School Culture & Student Support
- Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
- Address student behavior consistently using restorative and positive behavioral practices.
- Collaborate with counselors, special education staff, and teachers to support student needs, including participation in IEP and 504 meetings.
Staff Leadership & Collaboration
- Build strong relationships with staff through clear communication, coaching, and recognition.
- Foster collaboration and teamwork among staff.
- Participate in leadership meetings and support school-wide initiatives.
Community Engagement
- Maintain a visible and supportive presence in the school community.
- Participate in family engagement events, school performances, and community activities.
- Communicate effectively with families and community partners.
Operations, Organization & Safety
- Manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining effective organizational systems.
- Prioritize tasks to ensure smooth daily school operations.
- Ensure compliance with school policies and state requirements.
- Maintain school safety procedures, including coordinating safety drills and collaborating with the school safety team.
Reporting & Accountability
- Collect and analyze school performance data.
- Provide an annual report on academic progress and school culture to the governing board.
Professional Growth
- Demonstrate a growth mindset through reflection, feedback, and continuous learning.
- Participate in leadership training and professional development.
Position Details
- Contract: 194 days (August 3, 2026 – June 4, 2027)
- Work Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:40 AM – 3:45 PM
- Additional hours may be required for school events, meetings, and community engagement.
- The Assistant Executive Director may also teach one or two elective courses as needed.
Education, Licensure and Certification Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, Master's degree in Educational Leadership strongly preferred
- Eligibility for or possession of an Idaho Public Charter School Administrator Certificate
- Completion of a state-approved course in Idaho’s teacher evaluation framework (or willingness to complete upon hire)
- Demonstrated leadership experience in education, business, public service, military, or a related field or relevant teaching and/or charter school experience
- Ability to meet Idaho criminal history/background check requirements
- Appointment and approval by the charter school’s governing board
Hiring Process
- Hiring Committee review all submitted applications
- Conduct reference checks (both listed and off-list references)
- Three candidates recommended by committee to move forward for interviews and job shadowing
- Interview 1--3 candidates
- Interview 2--final 2 candidates
- Make a final hiring recommendation to board
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95,000-100,000 per year; Commensurate with education and experience
