Position Overview: RISE Charter School is seeking a passionate and dedicated High School English Teacher to join our dynamic team. This role is instrumental in shaping the literary and critical thinking skills of our students, fostering an environment that encourages curiosity, analytical thinking, and a deep appreciation for literature and language. The successful candidate will play a vital role in implementing our vision to provide an inspiring learning environment where every student matters, mistakes are embraced as opportunities to learn, and connections between learning and the real world are emphasized.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver engaging learning experiences tailored to high school students in English language arts.
  • Establish and maintain a structured and supportive classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of English language arts curriculum standards and employ research-based teaching practices to enhance students' reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills.
  • Plan and implement Odell lesson plans that align with state standards and address the diverse needs and interests of students, utilizing a variety of instructional strategies and resources.
  • Provide individualized support and guidance to students through mentoring sessions, focusing on both academic growth and personal development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and refine curriculum, share best practices, and participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress, academic goals, and strategies for support.
  • Utilize assessment data and ongoing progress monitoring to inform instructional decisions and differentiate instruction as needed.

Qualifications:

  • A valid teaching certificate with endorsements in English language arts or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and willingness to participate in afterschool and online training programs.
