• There is 1 opening in 7th grade and no one on the 7th grade wait list
• There is one child on the 8th grade wait list and 10+ children on the 6th grade wait list.
• The question on the table is, "Should we offer the open spot to a child on the 6th or 8th grade wait lists, rather than wait for another 7th grader, since the actual classes are mixed grades?"
Here are some points to ponder:
• Each child brings in approximately $7500 in funding, annually.
• The date when funding is determined is November 1.
• If we consider taking a child from either the 6th or 8th grade list, we will need to go back to their application date as preference, presuming the first child on both the 6th and 8th grade wait lists came through the lottery. If we choose to do this, it should be documented.
• The Accountant advised that we carefully consider what is best for the program, not school finances. He indicated that because of our JKAF support and the CSP grant, we are sitting on approximately $200,000 of unincumbered money.
• He also indicated that since KSD is our authorizer and this would be a decision outside of the guidelines set forth in our charter document, we would need to ensure KSD supports this decision.
