I absolutely love teaching! This Fall will be the beginning of my nineth year; first year here at Rise Charter School. I have had the opportunity to teach career explorations, life science, physical science, physics, biology, biochemistry, chemistry, and earth science. I obtained my Bachelor of Science Degree from Weber State University in Utah. My teaching emphases were in biology, integrated and earth science. This Fall, I will be obtaining my master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, “Stem” from Grand Canyon University. As you can see, I love science and I’m kind of a science “nerd”!
I began my teaching career in 1997 upon graduating from college. After receiving the Teacher of the Year award from Knox County School District in 2000, I took time off to raise my three children. They also love science; Alexis has just begun medical school; Emily is in the middle of nursing school and Jaden has completed one year at Utah State University. My children have been the greatest blessings in my life along with my job as a teacher! I believe in your children and their success.
I’m a big advocate for Universal Design Learning where students learn science through hands-on activities, laboratory work, demonstrations, cooperative learning, projects, technology, and lecture. I teach to all styles of learning, and I look forward to working with you and your child. I’m honored to share my love for science with students here at Rise Charter School.
